Foundation Tennis: Building the skills and the love of the game that last a lifetime
Foundation Tennis introduces players to the game through HPTA’s progressive Red, Orange and Green Ball programs. Using age-appropriate courts, racquets and balls, players learn to rally, serve, score and compete in an environment designed to make tennis both fun and challenging.
The Foundation pathway includes Futures (Red Ball), Challengers (Orange Ball) and Tour (Green Ball). At every level, players develop technical skills, athletic movement, tactical awareness and the confidence to play points independently.
Progression is based on demonstrated “I CAN” competencies rather than age alone. Through HPTA’s ribbon and badge system, players can see what they have accomplished, understand what they are working toward and celebrate their advancement. The goal is to develop capable, confident players who are prepared for the next stage of the HPTA Junior Development Pathway.
YES! Every player needs a rating to register for programming. For most junior programs you can get a rating by filling our the Player Questionnaire . Once you submit your answers we will be in touch with you to confirm your rating or other next steps.
Players with valid ratings can register for programs via their HPTA Account.
Session 1: September 7, 2026 – November 15, 2026
Session 2: November 16, 2026 – January 24, 2027
Session 3: January 25, 2027 – April 4, 2027
Session 4: April 5, 2027 – June 13, 2027
